I will start again by saying thank you once again to all of the people that were able to make it out to the fundraiser that took place in Winnipeg on August 20th, 2004. It was a yet another evening that almost just didn't quite seem real in a lot of ways.

 When it was all said and done the evening raised a grand total of $16,000.00 in Canadian funds. We required just over $5000.00 in Canadian funds to reach the goal of $20,000.00 US for the "Ride for the Roses" and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Mission accomplished and then some!!!! The rest goes to cancer research in Canada! All $10,000.00 + of it.

Alberta scientists are planning to establish a state-of-the-art facility (the Centre) in Calgary to enable research into the biologic mechanisms involved in cancer causation and progression. Collaborative research undertaken to date by scientists at the Alberta Cancer Board, the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta has determined that physical activity can reduce cancer risk by 30-40%. A theoretical framework resulting from this research has been established that describes further inquiry required at all states of the cancer experience, from prevention to palliation.

I quickly wanted to thank all that were able to attend the Calgary Beach Party on August 15th, 2004. You were part of one of the most amazing evenings I have ever experienced. The grand total funds raised for the night was an astonishing $8210.00 US ($10,750.00 Canadian)!!!!!!! The overall grand total will reflect the full amount donated by the middle of the week. When all is said and done Calgary was able to bring the grand total all the way up to $16,000.00 US with the Hawaiian Party in Winnipeg still to go on August 20th, 2004.
